Ofsted has reaffirmed the good status of Rimon Primary School in Golders Green after a first visit in six years.
Pupils enjoy coming to this “happy and inclusive school”, talk confidently about upholding its values and build positive working relationships with teachers, Ofsted reported.
This was the second Ofsted since the school — which is part of the United Synagogue-run Jewish Community Academy Trust —was graded good in 2014. The inspectorate tries to check good schools every four years but does not carry out a graded inspection unless it believes the school risks losing its good rating or alternatively could merit outstanding status.
Rimon “aspires for pupils to achieve well and be academically, emotionally, and socially well prepared for secondary education,” Ofsted said.
Pupils develop their character at the school, where their opinions are valued and they are taught that their voice counts. They “develop confidence to be individual and they readily express their views”.
Children who struggle are provided with a “safe and supportive environment”.
But Ofsted noted that a small number of pupils were “persistently absent” and sometimes teaching did not help children to remember long term what they had been taught.
